Enterprise Europe, Brussels, 5 March 2007 - The first Responsible Entrepreneurship Exchange will be hosted by the European Commission on May 3. This innovative event will bring together people from the worlds of entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises and corporate social responsibility to ask how we can help more small businesses to integrate social and environmental issues into what they do.
As well as the launch of the report of the European Expert Group on CSR and SMEs, there will be the opportunity to talk to and learn from some 30 organisations that are working to encourage the uptake of responsible business practices amongst small businesses. Ground-breaking panel discussions will explore the link between entrepreneurship, values and responsibility, and ask whether and how responsible entrepreneurship can be taught.
Vice-President Verheugen, Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, is due to open the event and will be joined by high-level representatives from organisations such as Junior Achievement Young Enterprise, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor and the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPME).
