New Study Explores Policies to Support Business Responsibility

(New York, 24 October 2007)

- A new study conducted by The Deutsche

Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) and the Bertelsmann Stiftung, explores how governments - through incorporating corporate social responsibility (CSR) into national policies - can contribute to shaping a fair and balanced process of globalization by working together with private and civil society actors.
The study investigates the drivers behind CSR policymaking, analyzing existing instruments and the level of maturity of CSR policies in 13 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. The 13 country profiles form the basis of the CSR Navigator - a tool has been designed to help map CSR-related public policy instruments and to choose measures appropriate to a country’s particular situation.
The study represents an important contribution to the advancement of responsible corporate citizenship.
